With all our kiddos turning 2 and meeting milestones--it’s time to expand our curriculum! Starting in June: Every Monday will be Fine Motor & Sensory--this will include Pre-Writing skills like strengthening our hands and grips, practicing lines and circles and scribbling, and continuing to explore with our senses. Every Wednesday will be Free Art & Dictation--the kids will use a variety of materials to create art, and then I will ask and record what they “say” is in their art/pictures. We will start working on Letters every other Tuesday--going in ABC order, practicing identifying and sounding out each letter with various activities. We will also continue working on identifying, naming, matching and sorting Colors. We will start working on the Numbers 1-10 on every other Thursday, going in numerical order to identify and count with various activities. We will also continue working on identifying, naming, matching and sorting Shapes. We will continue working on Socio-Emotional milestones by learning-though-play with our everyday activities.
We will also be Outdoors (likely in the water while it’s hot), playing/singing/dancing/making Music, reading books and practicing fingerplays for continued Literacy, and the toys in our Centers will continue to be renewed every month depending on our Theme--including more independent Tablework and Motessori-type activities. It is also part of the Reggio-Emilia way to document kids’ progress and share with parents-which is why I will continue to take and share so many pictures! The schedule is for me to stay organized and make sure I’m hitting all the developmental areas/milestones. The kids will just continue enjoying the routine they expect, being engaged in the activities they enjoy, and learning naturally through play! As always--parents continue to communicate any questions or concerns.
